Overview

Established in 2011, the Visa d’Or Humanitaire is an annual award presented by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to honor professional photojournalists who have documented humanitarian issues related to armed conflicts. The 15th edition focuses on the theme "Civilians, the primary victims of armed conflicts." This award is part of the prestigious Visa pour l'Image international photojournalism festival held annually in Perpignan, France. The ICRC aims to highlight the human cost of armed conflicts and the vital role of photojournalists in giving victims a voice.

Reward

The recipient of the Visa d’Or Humanitaire will receive a prize of €8,000, funded by the ICRC, to support future photographic projects. The award recognizes work that effectively portrays the plight of civilians affected by armed conflicts.

Eligibility

The competition is open to professional photojournalists worldwide who have documented humanitarian issues related to armed conflicts, specifically focusing on the impact on civilians. Submissions must consist of a report containing between seven to ten photographs.
