Grants of up to $10,000 USD are awarded to cover out-of-pocket expenses such as travel, document collection, and equipment rental. FIJ also offers seed funding up to $2,500 USD for preliminary reporting, follow-up grants up to $2,500 USD for additional coverage of original investigations, and expedited grants for urgent stories.
Open to freelance journalists, staff reporters, and media outlets worldwide. Investigations can be for print, online, or broadcast stories, books, documentaries, or podcasts.
