Overview

The Brown Institute for Media Innovation, a collaboration between Stanford's School of Engineering and Columbia Journalism School, offers the Magic Grant to support innovative projects at the intersection of technology and storytelling. Reward

Recipients of the Magic Grant receive financial support for up to a year, including funding for salaries and project expenses such as production, prototyping, software, services, and equipment. Grants offer up to $150,000, with up to $300,000 available for projects that include team members from both Columbia and Stanford. Additionally, grantees gain access to professional development opportunities, mentorship from a distinguished advisory group, and inclusion in an extensive alumni network.

Eligibility

Open to teams comprising students, alumni, faculty, and research staff from Columbia University and Stanford University. Collaborations between both institutions are particularly encouraged.
